This was, for me, the turning point in my life where I decided I was never going to be overweight again!

Sadly the pressures of shift work had led to me eating whatever I wanted whenever I could.

I had no time to be picky, no time to prepare food, no time to drive to healthier places, it just wasn’t an option.
It was a stressful job for sure...

I coped by going home and eating sweet, tasty treats to pick me up and feel better.

Each night on the way home I’d offer to ‘treat’ my other half and stop into the shop for ice cream, chocolate and a dessert too...

She found it sweet but really I knew I was doing it for me!

You see she is one of them lucky people that can eat and eat and somehow still stay slim and sexy.

But me… nah!

Sometimes I feel all I have to do is look at a Krispy Kreme and I pack on a few pounds.

Months passed in this way...

Sure I had made attempts at cutting it out but honestly, looking back now, they were half hearted

I’d buy all the makings of a salad with the intention of taking it in every day to work but by the time I’d added the cheese, left over pizza slice, different meats and it’s got to have ranch dressing too!...

I think I may have been better off with a McDonalds! Plus you have to have snacks too right?? I’d stock up on protein bars and health bars to take in with me but eating 2 at a time probably wasn’t the best idea…

I didn’t like crisps so that was a bonus but I could never resist the cookies, cakes and chocolates often left lying around the office each day...

My sweet tooth would crave them and before I knew it I was sneaking another over to my computer.

But I was working out...

So eating all this food meant it had to turn into muscle right?

That’s what I had heard so I sandwiched workouts in before my 12 hour night shift, stayed behind after the morning shift and pumped some iron 💪

You’d have thought I would see results no? Well I am currently grappling with a man half my size...

and if someone else was watching I’m pretty sure they’d say he was winning!

You used to only take 1 fitness test throughout your whole career and that was when you started. They tried to fix it recently and made it a yearly requirement which you think would be a good thing right?

Well what if I told you the ‘test’ consisted of you completing a bleep test to level 5.4?

Never heard of it before? It basically means to pass you had to jog for 3 minutes! There was no urgency to stay fit and so I got lazy...
This all leads me to my situation right now...

I’m currently battling with a complete stranger, in his home, attempting to arrest him for beating up his wife...

and I’m weak, tired and I just want to be back in the office eating Laura’s birthday cake…

...it's wonderfully moist and just sat there in the office...

As he reached for my Taser I was able to grab his arm and stop him but my weak other arm could no longer hold him down...
Birthday Buns! I ate at least 3 but 
that's OK right? As it was my birthday?
He launched himself up and he was now on his feet with me still gripping to him like a baby monkey. I couldn’t let this go on so I tightened my hold and fell backwards onto the couch.

We all landed in a heap.

This man was still struggling to get free. The front door was about 5 steps from where we were and I knew if I let go he’d be off into the night and there was no way I could chase him...

I used the excuse that I didn’t like running but really I couldn’t run.
"I'd really lived up to the stereotype... it was so embarrassing!"
I am really struggling now, out of breath, sweat actually dripping down my face!

I can feel my body heat building up in my stab vest, when will this end?

I see my opportunity… he finally begins to tire and his whole body relaxes for just a second...

I summon the last bits of energy I have left in my tired legs and launch all 245 pounds of me up onto my feet...

I quickly take out my pepper spray and spray him directly in the eyes...

He sits there and stares and me for a couple of seconds with a look of shock on his face…

...it then kicks in!

He begins to scream!... The spray is burning his eyes but all I can think about is catching my breath. 
By now other officers are starting to arrive. Some take the guy away while others start checking on me and my partner. I’m ashamed. I’m soaked through. I stink of sweat. I was so unfit I almost risked injuring not only myself but my partner too. 

To top it all off I have a hole in the back of my pants… what a sight…
I walked out of the station that night to my car... wearing my gym shorts and declared I was going to make a change!

If others can do it then so can I!

The following day I hired a trainer. The guy the gym uses all the time to advertise his own stunning transformation.

This was the guy I needed. Someone who had been there, done it himself and was now helping others to do the same.
